NEWMAN’S OWN AWARD ACCEPTED BY PROJECT SANCTUARY

Well...here we are in Washington, DC, accepting an award from the Newman's Own Foundation. We were honored at a reception at the Marine Commandant's house on Tuesday evening followed Wednesday afternoon by an awards ceremony at the Pentagon's Hall of Hero's. I feel honored to be here with Heather, Marci and Blake to receive a grant to help more military families.

Project Sanctuary's goal is to help these families have time to reconnect and many times mend their relationships as a whole. I was impressed and appreciative of the other eight non-profits that recieved awards as well. Out of 138 applicants, there were only eight selected for this award. As a military wife myself, it tugs at my heart to know that there really are a lot of people out there who care about the needs of the military family of today. I just want those families to know that for us, the awards are not what keeps us passionate about what we do but instead it is the families themselves!

This award is YOUR award. We recognize the sacrifices you have made to keep our country great. Thank you for showing the rest of us that "doing the right thing" is not lost but actually thriving in America today.
