Mental Health Resources

In life's journey, we all encounter challenging moments. Here at Project Sanctuary, we recognize the significance of mental health and mental well-being. If you or someone you know is looking for support, we have compiled resource lists to aid you on your journey to mental wellness. Remember, you're not alone—reach out, and let's navigate the path together.

Mental Health Support and Suicide Prevention resources 

Veterans Crisis Line 

  • Description: The Veterans Crisis Line provides confidential support 24/7 for veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and their family members. It's staffed by trained professionals, many of whom are veterans. 
  • How to Reach: Dial 988, then press 1, or text 838255.

Military OneSource – Mental Health and Counseling Services 

  • Description: Military OneSource offers free, confidential non-medical counseling for military members and their families. They also provide referrals to mental health services and can connect users to crisis hotlines.

 In Transition Program – Psychological Health Support 

  • Description: A free, confidential program that offers personalized support for active-duty service members, National Guard members, reservists, veterans, and retirees who need help accessing mental health services during transitions, such as moving, returning from deployment, or adjusting to civilian life.

 Give an Hour 

  • Description: Give an Hour offers free mental health services to veterans, military members, and their loved ones. Licensed providers donate one hour of their time each week to provide care.

 Headstrong Project 

  • Description: Headstrong provides free, confidential mental health care to post-9/11 veterans and their families. Services focus on treating PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues related to military service.

 Cohen Veterans Network 

  • Description: Cohen Veterans Network offers free or low-cost, high-quality mental health care to veterans and military families. Their services address issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges.

Real Warriors Campaign 

  • Description: The Real Warriors Campaign provides information and resources to encourage service members, veterans, and their families to seek help for invisible wounds such as PTSD, TBI, and depression. They also provide tips for building resilience and accessing care.

 Wounded Warrior Project – Warrior Care Network 

  • Description: Wounded Warrior Project's Warrior Care Network provides specialized mental health care, including treatment for PTSD, TBI, and other combat-related conditions. Care is provided through partnerships with medical centers across the U.S.

 PsychArmor Institute 

  • Description: PsychArmor offers free online training courses to help military members, veterans, and caregivers learn how to support mental health and understand suicide prevention. Courses are designed to educate and build skills for coping with various mental health challenges.

 Operation Deep Dive 

  • Description: A project led by America’s Warrior Partnership; Operation Deep Dive focuses on understanding the factors that contribute to veteran suicide. This initiative aims to develop better suicide prevention strategies by looking at community involvement and the impact of veterans’ transitions.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – Veterans and Active Duty Resources 

  • Description: NAMI offers mental health support and resources for veterans and active-duty military members. This includes local peer-led support groups, educational materials, and a helpline.

 Hope for the Warriors – Clinical Health & Wellness 

  • Description: Hope for the Warriors provides mental health services, including counseling and peer support for veterans, service members, and their families. Services are available both in-person and virtually.

Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) 

  • Description: TAPS provides grief counseling and mental health support to the families of fallen military service members. The organization offers crisis support 24/7, peer-based support groups, and resources for dealing with trauma and grief.

Military Family Life Counseling (MFLC) Program 

  • Description: MFLC provides free, confidential non-medical counseling to military service members and their families, addressing stress, grief, relationship issues, and other everyday challenges. The program is available at military installations worldwide.

 American Red Cross – Hero Care Network 

  • Description: The Red Cross Hero Care Network offers emergency communication services and referrals to mental health care resources for military families. They also provide confidential counseling and support for caregivers and military family members.

 Blue Star Families – Caregiver Mental Health Resources 

  • Description: Blue Star Families offers mental health resources tailored to the needs of military caregivers. These resources include support groups, webinars, and wellness programs designed to promote caregiver well-being.

 Stop Soldier Suicide 

  • Description: Stop Soldier Suicide is a nonprofit organization focused on providing mental health resources and crisis intervention services for veterans and active duty service members. They offer individualized case management and access to long-term care.

 Semper Fi & America’s Fund – Veteran Mental Health Programs 

  • Description: Semper Fi & America’s Fund provides tailored mental health services for combat-wounded, ill, and injured veterans. The fund covers the cost of PTSD treatment, therapy, and wellness programs.

Crisis Text Line – Military Crisis Support 

  • Description: The Crisis Text Line offers free, confidential support for veterans and military families. Text "HELLO" to 741741 for 24/7 crisis counseling via text message.
