Holiday Support Guide 2019

Thomas Costello, Project Sanctuary’s Chief of Family Support and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), put this Holiday Resource Guide together for 2019 as a way to support military families. Project Sanctuary provides case management support and therapeutic follow-up services to families who are waiting for their retreat, who have graduated from a retreat, or who simply reach out in need of help. Today, we share holiday resources for military families and those wishing to support them.

The below organizations and events represent only a small number of charitable efforts to serve troops, veterans, and families throughout the country, so be sure to check your local media for additional resources. Many of these events require registration.

Soldiers Angels: This organization has multiple food-related events (breakfasts, dinners, and more) happening across the US through December 27th. Click here to find an event near you

Armed Services YMCA: Click here to locate your local branch and learn more about Operation Holiday Joy. Registration is ongoing and depends on the local branch.

Operation We Are Here: This organization has various programs across the US to support service members and their families (including a great military book list). Registration is ongoing depending on the organization/event sponsoring. Click here to find out more.

SOS Spirit of Sharing: Click here to nominate a family in need, registrations are ongoing.

USO Care Packages: Learn more about the Care Package program through USO. They also offer a variety of other programs including seminars and the phone home program.

Vets For Warriors: For emotional support, reach out via call, text, email, or chat. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (1-855-838-8255). Click here to find out more information.
