Dear Families, Friends and Supporters,
On behalf of the 96 military families (336 adults and kids!) who have benefited from a Project Sanctuary retreat, I would like to take a moment to THANK YOU for your contribution in making this happen.
2010 has been a challenging but exciting year for Project Sanctuary. Led by our Board of Directors, we made necessary cuts, performed under budget and were fiscally prudent. Project Sanctuary was recognized on a national level, and we expanded our base of events, volunteers and sponsors. With over 150 volunteers, the mission of Project Sanctuary becomes a reality for so many of our military families challenged by the issues of PTSD, TBI and multiple deployments.
Some of our highlights:
- Newman’s Own Award Winner, selected by Fisher House
- Recognized by Admiral and Mrs. Michael Mullen at Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff reception
- Currently providing support and services for 96 families!!
- Met with 22 different Senate offices
- Heather Ehle, founder and executive director, nominated as People Magazine’s All Stars Among Us
Because we take care of our active duty, veterans, wounded warriors AND their families, funding becomes tricky. There are no government funds for what we do because Project Sanctuary is doing something that hasn’t been done before! NOW more than ever we need your help to continue this amazing cause in 2011.
Project Sanctuary would like to thank our amazing military families for their daily sacrifices and for continuing to inspire us! With your support we hope to host another 8 retreats for 80 families in 2011!! Can you help us make that a reality?
Project Sanctuary believes that when one family member serves, the entire family sacrifices. Unfortunately, that comes at a price - usually in the form of higher rates of child abuse, domestic violence, divorce, substance abuse, unemployment or homelessness, or the ultimate sacrifice.
We provide specialized, therapeutic, 6-day retreats for our military families. Healthy Marriage and Financial Peace classes, blended with recreation and plenty of family time, equals a phenomenal opportunity for these families to heal. Our methods are powerful, innovative and proven to WORK!
Right now the Department of Defense is estimating that there is one suicide every 36 hours. Child abuse and divorce rates for military families continue to rise. There is no doubt that 9+ years of war are taking a toll on our military families. They need and deserve support NOW.
Project Sanctuary has helped 96 military families so far. Of our 96, 93 are together, and we have no reported suicides!! Many more are in need. We have 580 military families on a waiting list. We won’t stop until ALL have gotten the help that they need. Will you be a part of that solution and donate today?

"It was wonderful meeting other couples dealing with the same issues.... Knowing I'm not alone and now I have lifelong friends that care AND understand.... We had a blast as a family. Wonderful activities.... No TV, phones, internet gave us the time and made us work together" ~ The Martin Family, an active duty family of 8, traveled from SC
The sacrifices made by military families are enormous. Our nation’s military families need our help, and your support will directly impact this important mission. Wishing you and your family a warm, safe and blessed Holiday season. Thank you, and may God bless our US Military AND their families!
With gratitude,
Heather Ehle - Founder and Executive Director
