Shawn Moore is a Licensed Master Social Worker, seasoned nonprofit leader, and nationally recognized speaker specializing in military and veteran family advocacy, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed care. A former police officer turned mental health advocate, Shawn brings over two decades of frontline experience and lived insight as a veteran caregiver and widow of an Army veteran who died by suicide.
She currently serves as Director of Family Support at Project Sanctuary, where she leads our retreats, case management, policy, outreach, and financial assistance initiatives to support military and veteran families nationwide. In this role, she has managed national programs, advised Congressional stakeholders, and delivered workshops on mental health first aid, financial wellness, and inclusive care practices.
A sought-after speaker, Shawn has delivered keynote addresses and facilitated trainings for audiences including the VA, SAMHSA, The American Association of Suicidology, and the National Academies of Sciences. She is known for her powerful storytelling, combining professional expertise with personal resilience to promote post-traumatic growth and systems-level change.
Shawn is an Adjunct Professor of Social Work at Park University and is pursuing her Doctor of Social Work at the University of Kentucky. Her work continues to center around equipping Military and Veteran families, clinicians, and communities with the tools to foster connection, healing, and hope.
