John Stilwell

Chief Financial & Operating Officer

John has served as an executive with non-profit, corporate, and entrepreneurial organizations for more than 30 years, providing leadership in Chief of Staff, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer roles.  He has developed and implemented financial and operational systems enterprise wide in strategy, human resources, information technology, programs, operations, and finance.

He joins Project Sanctuary from an international NGO providing long-term medical and development aid to communities affected by poverty and unequal access to healthcare.  John has helped to start, manage and scale non-profits in California, Connecticut, New York, and Colorado, as well as serving on non-profit Boards. Prior to entering the non-profit sector, John was with a Wall Street hedge fund for twenty years. 

John has family who served in the military and have been affected by deployment and its consequences. He lives in Denver with his wife and two children and enjoys outdoor activities in the natural beauty of the Rockies.
