The most recent pandemic put a pause on retreats made available to military families in need and the Project Sanctuary team pivoted quickly to ensure our families were able to access and receive needed services and support, even while communities were shutting down. PS Wellness Matters Facebook Group, managed by the retreat team, was created March 27th and quickly grew to 750 followers. This platform provides any military family with virtual programs around physical and mental health, nutrition and partner resources.

COVID IMPACT REPORT

September 2020

Project Sanctuary is one of only a few veteran serving organizations that quickly restarted in person services by developing a “Safer at Retreats” model effectively implemented at our first post-COVID Retreat May 22, 2020. Our families are in crisis, so we must respond.

MCALPIN FAMILY

Retreat #204

“This will not only save relationships, marriages or families, but ultimately save lives.  I have battled depression and anxiety for so long, I myself, could be all of the above.”

Wilding Family

Couples Retreat #210

“We will never be able to “Thank” Project Sanctuary enough for what they did for our marriage and our future which, just 2 weeks before seemed very bleak when my husband packed his bags and left again.”

Changing How Military Families Heal

Family Support Resources & Communication

monthly reach to more than 5,000 people

Family support includes direct assistance and referrals to best-fit local resources for support with basic needs, such as housing and emergency financial assistance; counseling; clinical case management; help navigating VA and DoD benefits for the entire family; crisis and suicide intervention; employment services; caregiver support and resources; and more. Always offered to Project Sanctuary families, Family Support was made available to any military family starting in March 2020.

destination resource weekends

These one-of-a-kind resource weekends are not your typical “fair”, but instead focus on each family’s unique and personalized needs for active duty / veteran singles or couples to build their network of support. Meaningful connections to resource partners help familyies get to THEIR destination and achieve THEIR goals.

“This weekend was full of information that I can use personally and that I can share with other military families.” San Diego Participant

“Project Sanctuary helps by keeping me focused on my goals with functions like this one to remind me of what is important”

– Historic Banning Mills Participant

Believing that when one persons serves the whole family serves, Project Sanctuary takes a human-centered, solution-based approach to helping military families heal and move forward in life. Through innovative long-tern programming focused on connectedness, we restore hope and empower families to recover and thrive.
