Project Sanctuary Elects Jess Peonio to Board of Directors
GRANBY, CO (March 22, 2018) – Project Sanctuary is proud to announce that longtime supporter Jess Peonio has been elected to its board of directors for a three-year term. Since 2012, Peonio has organized the annual Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Poker Classic, which benefits Project Sanctuary.
Peonio comes from a family filled with military service members – from aunts and uncles to his dad, a Vietnam veteran, and his grandfather, who served in World War II. As a result, Peonio holds service men and women and their families in the highest regard. Through his involvement with the Poker Classic, he has helped raise nearly $140,000 to send military families to Project Sanctuary retreats.
“Jess has proven to be a passionate advocate for Project Sanctuary and our mission,” said Project Sanctuary Founder and CEO Heather Ehle. “We appreciate his taking on a larger role within the organization and are excited to see the impact he will have.”
Peonio serves as the vice president of Drilling and Regulatory for Axia Energy II LLC, a privately-funded exploration and production company based in Highlands Ranch. Prior to joining Axia, Peonio worked for Texaco Inc., and Tom Brown Inc./Encana in Bakersfield, CA; Rock Springs, WY; the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Denver.
“I am honored to be asked and to serve on the Board of Directors of Project Sanctuary,” said Peonio. “After speaking to retreat alumni and other Board members, and attending a retreat myself, I am excited to be part of such a meaningful organization and will do everything I can to continue the success and impact Project Sanctuary has on our military families.”
Originally from Bridgeport, NE, Peonio spent his high school years in Windsor, CO, and earned a degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He lives in Golden with his wife and two children. Peonio enjoys coaching his children in sports, attending their sporting events, fishing and hunting.
